When Greg and I hung this mirror up on our mantel, the first thing we noticed was how it reflected nothing but plain beige walls and our lovely air vent. Since then, I've been on a mission to either a) hang something pretty on the wall opposite the mirror or b) cover the mirror with something equally pretty to draw attention away from the problem. A couple of weeks ago when I saw this wreath idea from BHG, I knew that I had my answer! It's made using upholstery webbing, which Nancy kindly bought for me from the Wal-Mart down the road from her (the only one in the area that still sells fabric). I just love how pretty, yet rustic, it is!

Who knew a few yards of upholstery webbing and a foam wreath could make a girl so happy??

Choices, Choices...

So I was complaining to a friend the other day that it is kind of ironic that during the third trimester, when "mommy brain" starts to hit, and hit big, is the exact time that big decisions need to be made. Between names, nursery decor, furniture, and registering, Greg and I definitely have more than our fair share to think about and decide upon, and, ironically, all I want to do is sleep. Sooo...please help me decide on nursery fabric!! I think I've narrowed it down to two...

Paula Prass-Flights of Fancy
The above set is by Paula Prass and is a recent discovery of mine. The fourth down is my favorite--it has lots of birds and whimsical designs. Obviously wouldn't use the floral zinnia fabric, but really like the stripes, the bird print, the trellis, and the dots.

Paula Prass-Polka Dots

Amy Butler-Belle Collection

I discovered the Paula Prass line when I was looking for a polka dot to go with the above Amy Butler stripe. I'd probably use the polka dots with the stripe, and maybe incorporate the other three Amy Butler fabrics in a small way (the floral, especially, is a bit on the feminine side).

With either collection, I'd probably use wood toned furniture, and neutral walls. Tan, maybe? Maybe a sage-y color? Not sure yet.

So, let me know what you think!!

Just file this under Things I Really Didn't Think I Could Make But Hey Look It's Not Half Bad file. I started it Thursday night from a pattern out of this book, wasn't crazy about the way it was coming together, picked it back up Friday night and finished it in 3 hours. April and I picked up this fabric a few months ago intending to make it into a skirt, but, alas, then I grew:) I like the fabric, but don't love it. I can't wait to try it again with fabric that I really love.

Oh, and yes, the button is missing. I didn't have one that I liked, and, honestly, I don't think the loop is long enough anyway, but if that's the biggest mistake that came out of this, I'll take it!

If you know Greg or I, you know that we are fairly big readers. From books and magazines, to bathroom readers (him) and blogs (me), there's a fair amount of reading going on within these four walls. Partly to encourage that in our baby, and partly to help us form a stronger bond with him, Greg and I have been reading to him for about two weeks now. Also, apparently reading to him now will have the added benefit of him being soothed when the same books are read to him as a newborn. Our current reads include I Love You Through and Through (thanks, Nancy!), The Going to Bed Book (thanks, Stephanie!), Moo, Baa, La La La!, and Goodnight Moon, the latter two owing thanks 1) to my love of children's books, and 2) to my love of Amazon.

I adore this time with Greg and the baby, and can't wait to continue this tradition come April.
