Crafting my way to 40 weeks...

For some, being less than three weeks from their due date would ignite a sort of spark, inspiring all kinds of nesting, nursery and cleaning projects. For me, it inspires a desire to craft. Meet Exhibit A....

I do not know what took me so long to make one of these ribbon blankets! I read through a few tutorials, but kind of made this one up as I went along. Mine uses flannel on both sides and 4 inch ribbon pieces. It is for a very special baby girl and, if I had more flannel, I would have made half a dozen more by now--it was that easy and so much fun!

Exhibit B was made using this pattern from one of my favorite crafty blogs around. The only changes I made was that I used ribbon to close the bag instead of magnetic snaps (didn't have any), and I didn't use the decorative button flap (didn't look right on my bag), instead choosing to sew the buttons directly on the ribbon piece on the front of the bag. I LOVE this bag, and, again, want, like, 8 more of them.

For those of you who check my blog to hear about Baby news rather than crafting news, all is good and well at the moment...we have another appointment Monday morning (I think with ultrasound to check fluid levels) and our last baby class that night. Nursery bedding and such should be finished by Monday or so (yay for Nancy's fast work!!), and, lest you think that none of my crafting energy has been Baby Smith related, I bought some plain wooden frames and such from Michaels today to decorate--I personally can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday night!

These crafts are just so wonderful! I love the ribbon blanket (D & E love these). I hope you are making one (or several)for Baby Smith. And I love, love the bag (I love all types of bags -- even diaper bags). What beautiful fabric and color!

Can't wait to see the picture frames and nursery!
